  1. Uh, yeah, except I’m not talking about the story anymore. No. That’s right, not the story. I mean, it is “a” story, but it’s not “the” story I was talking about before. Now I’m just talking about humans. People. Human people. (dammit*) Human history. People don’t know where they are going, how they are going to get there, what’s going to happen next, or how things are going to unfold after that. So in pretty much every way, though people can intend to know where they think they want to go, they can’t actually know whether or not they are actually going there, where “there” even is and if they’re even conceiving of it properly, or really even whether or not any of their previous attempts at going “somewhere” were very fruitful never having understood wherein they were actually heading in the first place. So with all this nonsense and unknowability perpetually swirling about each and every decision that each and every human person makes during each and every day, how come people still open their mouths and say things that they expect others to believe? What a terribly overwhelming and frustrating shroud of lies that must be when one is unaware of their ignorance…

  2. A Musing on Writing Practitioners

Nobody knew where they were going. Well, some of us did and some of us didn’t. It was a new meet-up called Writing Practitioners. It sounded like a fun idea- that someone would give you a prompt and you would write about it with the goal of writing every single day of the year, whether you felt like it or not.

Some prompts were easy and some prompts were hard. Some prompts were silly and some prompts were serious. Some prompts were quite deep while others challenged you to dig deeper, harder, longer.

And so at Day 88, we are nearly 25% done with our quest. And now I know where I’m going, though I can’t speak for the rest. Actually, despite some initial stumbles, I knew where I was going on day one.

It’s quite simple really: I am a writer and I write.
